Our Purpose

Soltane Café is a social enterprise of Camphill Soltane, a nonprofit organization in Chester County that provides an inclusive setting for achieving creative development, social engagement, clinical therapy, & meaningful employment for adults with intellectual differences and the broader community so that all may find fulfillment.

Our story

Over ten years ago, Camphill Soltane, whose main campus is located in Glenmoore, PA, extended its impact to Phoenixville, PA with the establishment of Soltane Cafe. Infusing the charming town with the vision of an inclusive coffee shop in which all members contribute and are valued, Soltane Café employs 14 people, 7 of whom have intellectual differences. We are proud to influence Phoenixville as a thriving community that welcomes and nurtures adults with intellectual differences.

OUR why

Imagine falling from a 2.5 story balcony on your 20th birthday causing you to spend 3 months of your life in a coma followed by years of therapy, social exclusion, and unemployment. Meet Ryan, just one of Soltane Cafe’s valuable, kind, and hard working employees with intellectual differences. Biking to work each day, Ryan has become a special part of the Soltane Cafe team!
